DPD has announced the integration of Pegasus, one of the leading CEP carriers in the fast-growingRomanian market, into its network as part of the strategy of further internationalising its
parcel/express activities.The announcement follows the strategic alliance between Pegasus and DPD established inFebruary 2008 under which Pegasus already offers DPD-branded products in Romania and uses DPDnetwork for international imports and exports.
GeoPost, the express and parcels holding of La Poste, acquired an 80% stake in Pegasusearlier this year. The company is extending the international brand DPD through its Europeannetwork and at the same time is strengthening its network in Eastern Europe.
“Due to our clear growth strategy, more and more franchisees are deciding to operate underthe DPD brand and benefit from our international size,” said Arnold Schroven, CEO of DPD.
Pegasus, established in 1997, has 74 depots and 200 employees in Romania. The companycooperates with 250 service providers. More than 6,000 parcels a day are delivered throughoutRomania. Pegasus was the first company to offer a door-to-door delivery service in the country’stowns and cities.
