TNT and Kenyan Post sign parcel delivery deal

TNT Express and the Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) have signed an agreement to extend theirservices to customers in the region, the regional newspaper The Standard reported.



As part of the agreement, TNT Express will start delivering international parcels on behalfof EMS Kenya, PCK’s express delivery division, to an initial 90 international routes where EMSKenya does not have any agreement. PCK will assume local distribution of TNT consignments throughits 300-plus post offices.

TNT Express Country Manager Sam Gichohi commented on the new parcel delivery deal: “This is atrue ‘win-win’ agreement that will allow us to offer customers world-class and extensive expressdelivery of services.”

PCK will enable TNT Express to expand and streamline coverage in the market by offeringbetter national coverage for international consignments. PCK has grown its international businessto 109 countries. The new partnership will extend this count beyond 200.

“The forging of this new partnership is in line with PCK’s refreshed go-to-market strategy,which includes forging useful partnerships with key players to widen our market”, said FredOdhiambo, Postmaster General of PCK.

The move comes two months after TNT Express acquired its long-term Kenyan agent AircareCharters to strengthen its position in the country and develop Nairobi into a regional hub. Thecourier company invested 138 million Kenyan shillings (€1.4 million) towards expanding its footholdin the country.
