FedEx opens new facility in SW England

FedEx UK has opened a new station at Exeter in South-West England to continue its expansion ofdomestic and international services in Great Britain. 



The facility, located in the Greendale Business Park, Woodbury Salterton, has doubledcapacity in the South West and reduces delivery times by up to one and a half hours. Thestation, which processes packages going to and from customers, will handle both packages for FedExUK domestic, and FedEx Express International customers.

“This facility demonstrates our commitment to playing a central role in the future growth ofthe South West of England,” said Trevor Hoyle, managing director, Operations, FedEx UK.  “Ourinvestment in Exeter means a faster and more flexible service for local businesses and ensures theycontinue to benefit from connection to the global economy.”

The depot, which is located five miles from Exeter City Centre and three miles from ExeterInternational Airport, has the capacity to sort 500 packages per hour along a 70-metre conveyorbelt system designed to allow the fast processing of parcels.

The 17,000 sq ft (1,580 sqm) facility was also specially adapted to allow vehicles to loadfrom any of the 13 double-shutter doors at the front and side of the building – freeing warehousespace inside the depot for peak periods and annual growth.
