FedEx Express and STAR join forces in airlifting relief supplies to Sichuan

FedEx Express and STAR, Asia’s leading media and entertainment company, airlifted 31 tonnes of aidgoods and necessities to Sichuan Province, China, in order to provide immediate aid to earthquake

survivors in the region.

FedEx Express provided full cargo transport and logistical support, congregating the suppliesin Hong Kong and dispatching them to Chengdu, where they were received by the Sichuan ProvincialCivil Affairs Department. While the airlift shipment arrived in Chengdu, FedEx also provided landdelivery support for the relief supplies that departed from Shenzhen and Foshan.

“Addressing the needs of so many people demands cooperation from every sector of society,”said David L. Cunningham, regional president, FedEx Express Asia Pacific. “I am deeply saddened andmoved by the disaster. But I see reason to hope in the quick response and efficientcollaboration between officials, companies, and individuals to bring relief to those affected bythe earthquake.”
 
The relief supplies included surgical masks, cup noodles, health drinks, and 10,000 tents,sleeping bags, mats and blankets. In support of FedEx Express’s and STAR’s earthquake reliefinitiative, Nissin Foods contributed 1.6 tons of cup noodles and Otsuka Pharmaceutical Hong Kongoffered 16 tonnes of Pocari Sweat, Soyjoy and Crystal Geyser water. Continental Supplies donated 15thousand surgical masks.
