DPD grows 41% in Russia and plans EUR 50m CIS expansion

DPD increased revenues in Russia by 41% last year thanks to extending its network and services, andis now planning to invest €50 million in expanding its business in CIS countries over the next few

years.

DPD Russia said that it delivered 3.5 million parcels to 14,000 customers across Russia lastyear. The transported cargo had a total weight of about 100,000 tons. Turnover increased by 41%.The company, which re-branded last autumn from the previously used Bizpak and Armadillo names,extended its branch network to 25 locations last year.

Nikolay Voinov, General Director of Armadillo Group (DPD in Russia), commented: “In 2007, ourcompany yet again sustained its position as one of the market leaders. We think this is a logicalresult of the efforts we put into offering high service quality to our customers. Thanks to this weare in a perfect position to continue to grow in 2008 ahead of the market.”

Meanwhile, DPD Russia has announced further details of the planned expansion into the CISregion. The company already said in April that it had signed deals with local partners inKazakhstan and Ukraine, planned to enter further markets, and was setting up a road linehaulnetwork for the CIS countries.

In its latest statement, DPD Russia said that its joint owners GeoPost and Turkish companyYurtiçi Kargo would invest €50 million in Kazakhstan and Ukraine between 2008 and 2012, and wouldalso enter other CIS market through local partners operating under the DPD brand. The businesses inKazakhstan and the Ukraine are already fully operational.

In Kazakhstan, the DPD Max service, which represents a reliable domestic road-based parceland freight delivery solution, was recently launched. The first DPD Max route was opened betweenAlmaty, the business capital of Kazakhstan, and Astana, the country’s official capital. The roadservice meant lower CO2 emissions than transportation by air, DPD Russia noted. The DPD Max servicewill also be launched in the Ukraine in the near future, it added.
