DHL strikes US bowling deal and wins Fashion Angels

DHL Express won a three-year, multimillion-dollar deal with Strike Ten Entertainment earlier thismonth to ship an annual 20 million pounds of products and equipment to and from bowling centres,

manufacturers and distributors across the USA. In addition, it signed an exclusive two-yearagreement with Fashion Angels Enterprises, a manufacturer and wholesaler of preteen merchandise.

Under the contract with Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the BowlingProprietors’ Association of America (BPAA), DHL Express will handle shipping for the association’snationwide membership of 3,400 bowling centres through its domestic US and international network.

DHL will also have a brand presence at upcoming bowling conferences through the placement ofDHL shipping stations and trade show booths, will be highlighted in direct mail and e-mailcampaigns, and in rotating advertisements on the US bowling websites.

Under the agreement with Fashion Angels Enterprises, DHL will be the exclusive shipper forall finished product shipments within the U.S. as well as international import and export of smallpackage samples for Fashion Angels. DHL will be responsible for shipping product samples via itsinternational express services to and from the U.S. and vendors in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, andcountries in Europe. Fashion Angels Enterprises then will distribute its final merchandise toretailers, wholesalers and consumers within the U.S. using DHL’s express and ground services.

To improve productivity at Fashion Angels Enterprises’ distribution center, DHL integratedits back end database systems directly with Fashion Angels’ accounting software. Shipments areprocessed through the DHL EasyShip system through typing a short entry code into the accountingsystem to produce a shipping label, saving time and eliminating errors caused by manual data entryof customer addresses.

Fashion Angels Enterprises manufactures and distributes the latest trends for the preteen or‘tween’ market segment, including fashions and accessories for dolls; bath and body products; artsand crafts activity kits and stationary. The company designs and develops all of its products andstyles out of its corporate offices and distribution centre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
