DHL supplies emergency aid to Africa

DHL Express UAE has assisted the charity “All As One” (AAO) by shipping essential supplies, donatedby UAE residents, to help impoverished children in Sierra Leone, Africa.



The logistics provider organised and delivered an emergency airfreight shipment containingitems that were urgently required such as baby formula, nappies and detergents to serve the growingnumber of critical cases helped by the AAO children’s charity in Freetown, the capital of theAfrican state.

“The nature of our business is such that we carry essential items every day that have a majorimpact on individuals and businesses on many levels, but in few instances are the items soimperative to basic human existence,” said Janet Jweihan, DHL Express Country Manager UAE.

DHL has been associated with the charity for several years and moved the first shipment ofregionally donated Christmas presents to Sierra Leone in 2004. Air freighted shipments aretransported quarterly, containing medicine, clothing, washing powder and other supplies. DHLorganises collection of donations from houses and businesses, facilitates the storage of the itemsin secure warehouses and then ships the goods to an orphanage in Sierra Leone, Africa.

The charity AAO has expansion plans in which DHL will play a crucial role in shipping all ofthe necessary building supplies and equipment required for the development enabling theorganisation to double the number of children that it can accommodate and offer assistance to morefamilies.
