Swiss Post International gains foothold in India

Swiss Post International (SPI) has signed an agreement with Indian direct marketing company MailOrder Solutions (MOS) to enter the country’s growing market and to expand its presence in the

international cross-border mail market as part of its international niche strategy.

MOS, based in Mumbai, started to operate as an SPI sales agent with effect from May 1, 2008.

Daniel Baettig, Director of Swiss Post International, said: “MOS is a top class DM solutionsbusiness and Swiss Post is proud to be a part of such an interesting venture. MOS manages allaspects of a print project, from concept to completion in one place while we sort, transport,deliver and oversee response handling – in Swiss quality.”

Mail Order Solutions Chairman and CEO, Mehul A. Desai, believes the cooperation with SPI willreinforce MOS’ already world class print production, distribution and postal services by enablingit to provide its customers additional advanced solutions. “Swiss Post International stands forquality and reliability and we hope to grow in strength alongside such a serious partner.” 

With its foothold in India secured, SPI has expanded its international presence into sixteencountries. SPI India in Mumbai is now one of the five locations of Swiss Post International inAsia, along with Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Shanghai.

Swiss Post International now has some 1,200 employees in 11 European countries, five Asianlocations, and the USA with over 50% of its workforce is located abroad. Its revenue has also grownconsiderably in the last few years to €694 million in 2007. SPI already accounts for more than 13%of Swiss Post Group’s total operating income of €5.28 billion.
