DHL Express has signed a five-year agreement with e-commerce company Borderlinx enablinginternational shoppers to order products from any US internet retailer. The company has also
extended sponsorship deals with several baseball teams.US online retailers can now market their products worldwide through Borderlinx, a UK-basedprovider of cross-border e-commerce solutions. It offers them payment solutions, order fulfillmentand product delivery by DHL Express to 225 countries and territories worldwide.
All purchases are sent to and stored at DHL’s primary US air and ground hub at Wilmington,Ohio until the customer requests delivery. One consolidated delivery of purchases saves consumerssignificantly on import fees, duties and transportation charges.
“Today, only a small percentage of the top 500 US internet retailers ship internationally,”said Marc Blouin, Senior Vice President of DHL Solutions (USA), Inc. “This new partnership betweenDHL and Borderlinx opens the marketplace to hundreds of millions of customers who until now havenot been able to purchase their products from US internet retailers.” DHL Solutions willprovide full-service warehousing and fulfillment services including product storage, picking,packaging and consolidation of customer products for Borderlinx at the DHL hub in Wilmington, Ohio.
Meanwhile, DHL Express has entered several multi-year agreements to sponsor various USbaseball teams to extend its regional and national marketing activities. Under the partnerships,DHL is the exclusive shipping partner for each team, and gains extensive branding and promotionalopportunities.
In Ohio, where its US air hub is located, DHL is partnering with the Cincinnati Reds and theCleveland Indians. In California, where it has an extensive hub operation, it has deals with theLos Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. On the east coast, it will partner with the BostonRed Sox and the New York Mets, while it also sponsors the Atlanta Braves.
