Post Danmark has started to introduce new parcel stations named “Døgnposten” to enable customers topick up and drop off parcels 24 hours a day. The first machines have been installed at ten selected
locations in Copenhagen.The service is offered as an alternative to parcel collection from post offices which is,according to Post Danmark, still the way up to 50% of all parcels are held for collection in someparts of the country. The number of parcels distributed by the part-privatised Danish postaloperator is approximately 42 million parcels yearly.
“More and more people buy online because it is easy. This means that we are also committed todeveloping solutions for as flexible and efficient parcel delivery as possible so that even morepeople find it attractive to buy online. Døgnposten may facilitate online trading,” explainedCarsten Dalbo, Deputy Executive responsible for Courier, Express, Parcels at Post Danmark.
Post Danmark is confident about customers welcoming the new parcel stations as it makes itmuch easier for them to pick up their parcels. The parcel stations accept payment by Dankort creditcard but no cash payment.
