DHL Express has picked up new contracts in the USA and in Sweden, and gained a call centre award inRussia.
In the USA, First Financial bank, which has 81 banking centres in Ohio, Kentucky, andIndiana, has chosen DHL as its exclusive delivery services provider for transporting loan,mortgage, and other financial materials to and from its banking centres and clients. The contractvalue was not disclosed.
The bank chose to consolidate all of its express delivery needs with DHL after a competitivereview of the quality, service, and value offered by all major U.S. providers due to its strongnetwork in the U.S. and in the region, which includes its primary air and ground hub based inWilmington, Ohio.
Separately, DHL Express Sweden has signed an exclusive framework agreement worth at least EUR2.1 million (SEK 20 million) per year with the service company for the Swedish Booksellers’Association, Bopako Service AB, covering 360 bookstores in Sweden.
Booksellers receive deliveries from six distribution centres, from where books are sent tobookstores all over the country. The service from DHL includes significantly reduced deliverytimes, tracking as well as the daily pick-up of the shipments. Books can be delivered to mostplaces the morning after the shipments have been collected from the distribution centre.
Initially, the framework agreement is expected to cover 375,000 shipments and a total of atleast 550,000 parcels per year, making it one of the most important parcels service agreements forDHL in Sweden. The parcel volumes are expected to rise even further due to the increase of thetotal book sales.
Meanwhile, DHL Express in Russia won the industry award at the “Russian and CIS Call CentreAwards” held during the International Forum “Call Centre World Russia/CIS – 2008” InternationalForum. The “Russian and CIS Call Centre Awards” serve as an industry benchmark, rewarding best inclass standards and quality in call centre activity.
