Managerial appointments in March

Herbert Vongpusanachai

The following managerial appointments have been announced by major players in the internationalexpress and parcels sector during March.



DHL Express has named Herbert Vongpusanachai as General Manager of DHL Express Singapore witheffect from 1 March 2008. Previously General Manager of DHL Express Thailand and Managing Directorof DHL Express IndoChina Region, he succeeds Alec Ang. Vongpusanachai joined DHL Express Thailandin 2003 as General Manager and also gained responsibility for Indochina in January 2007. He helpedthose countries grow their business and increase profits, and also ensured the smooth transition ofthe DHL Express Bangkok hub to the new Suvarnabhumi International Airport, DHL said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the former deputy country manager of DHL Thailand, Ahmad Mohamad, has been namedthe new country manager of DHL Express Philippines with effect from March 1.

UPS has announced a new senior management team to oversee its freight forwarding, globalbrokerage and non-asset network management services. Eric Kirchner has been named president ofFreight Forwarding, with responsibilities including air and ocean freight, trade lane development,and network management of truckload (TL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) contract services.

Everette Riley was named president, North American Freight Forwarding and TransportationDistrict, heading air and ocean freight operations and also UPS Express Critical services. TerryGavin Sambrook has become vice president of global brokerage with responsibility for customsrelationships and the timely clearance of cross-border package and freight shipments throughout theUPS global network.

Separately, EIRAD Trading & Contracting, the UPS service partner for Saudi Arabia, hasappointed Marwan El Kashef as country manager. He will be responsible for both small package andsupply chain solutions operations within the kingdom.

In Italy, the national air express association AICAI, part of the Confindustria businessfederation, has named Rosario Ambrosino, operations director of TNT Express Italy, as its newpresident. Meanwhile, TNT Express Germany has appointed Mischa Schaaf as the new Senior GeneralManager for its new unit Domestic Network & Operations Quality with responsibility for runningthe German domestic network.

In Britain, independent express parcels company Amtrak has appointed Michael Hawkins ascommercial director and Tony Hammond as sales director. The two have previously worked for majorexpress operators. Phil Whitlock has been appointed IT Director.
