Under the partnership agreement, DHL Exel Supply Chain, in collaboration with sistercompanies DHL Express, Danzas AEI, and DHL Global Forwarding, is developing a unique supply model:transPARK, a dedicated logistics park that will provide a single control point for, and access to,a full range of end-to-end logistics services to the companies at Dubai Industrial City.

Rashed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Industrial City, a member of Tatweer, explained that transPARK stands to support the massive demand for logistics services that is beinggenerated by the booming industrial and manufacturing sector. “Our city will comprise more than 450factories and an employee base that is projected to reach more than 150,000 people. It is estimatedthat Dubai Industrial City’s clients, collectively, will require up to 25,000 containers ofstart-up equipment just to become operational,” said Al Ansari.

Considered the third largest non-real estate project in Dubai, Dubai Industrial City aims topromote the continued expansion of the industrial sector in the region, particularly high-valuemanufacturing and production in the small and medium sector industries. The ultimate objective isto make Dubai less dependent on imports.

“Dubai’s growing industrial sector is providing a huge boost for the UAE economy, but alsoposing challenges,” said David Christmas, Managing Director, Middle East, of DHL Exel Supply Chain.“With access to DHL’s network and experience, transPARK will provide a complete range of supplychain solutions. It will mean companies at Dubai Industrial City can focus on their core businessand have greater control over cost and risk, helping to drive savings and increase value.”

Using DHL’s global network, the transPARK complex will be positioned to provide services thatinclude freight, inventory management, distribution and consultancy. transPARK’s warehousingincludes storage areas for machinery and vehicles, bulk storage, bonded storage, racked storage, ortemperature-controlled storage for perishable goods. Storage space will be leased on an individualor multi-user basis.

DHL can also provide transportation to move finished goods to destinations around the world. The logistics park offers such services as co-packing, labelling, security tagging and consultancyon warehouse design and construction, along with fleet optimisation and route planning. Efficiencyand reduced costs are the main priorities of the project. An example of this will be the operationof a Multi User Distribution Centre that can generate up to a 40% reduction in warehousing costs.
