La Poste boosts press delivery service with acquisition of Media Express

The French postal operator La Poste has acquired the press delivery

operator Media Express through its subsidiary Neopress, in order to become a major pressdistributor in France, according to Neopress CEO Nicolas Routier.

The group has invested EUR 40 million in the new morning home deliveryto be effected 7 days a week in and around the region Ile-de-France and in the 30 biggestmetropolitan areas of the country.

Along with the takeover of the press deliver operator Paris ActionsPresse (PAP) in May 2007 and the inauguration of the first industry platform in press handling inChelles, East Paris, in October last year, this acquisition is part of the programme of initiativesin favour of the press sector, introduced by La Poste CEO Jean Paul Bailly.

Specialised in press delivery, Neopress delivers more than 17 millionexemplars in the Ile-de-France region. With the new acquisition, it expects to deliver more than 26million exemplars.

Founded in 2007, the La Poste subsidiary distributes a total of about50,000 newspapers every day and employs 400 people working in 5 distribution centres in the regionof Paris.

Media Express was founded in 1991 and is a major player on the Frenchmarket of press delivery. It distributes the local newspaper “Le Progres” and several othernational publications in the metropolitan area of Lyon . It handles about 8 million exemplars annually.
