Azkar opens new mixed parcel logistics hubs

Leading Spanish parcels and logistics company Azkar has invested nearly EUR 13 million in two new “mixed” depots in the north and the south of the country to extend its network. 



The privately-owned firm has invested EUR 10 million in a new shared user site in Valladolid,in the El Carrascal Industrial Park. It is the company’s first mixed installation for logistics andparcel distribution in the province of Castile-Leon.

The warehouse, covering 12,574 sqm on a 19,543 sqm plot of land, is split into two sectionswith the smaller section dedicated to transport and distribution. The total storage capacity is8,000 pallets and 52 loading docks provide operational flexibility. Azkar will base a fleet of 60trucks and delivery vans at the depot, which employs 70 on-site staff.

Meanwhile, Azkar opened its first mixed depot in Andalusia, a shared user site in Puerto deSanta
María, close to Cadiz. The company invested EUR 2.8 million in the 5,435 sqm facility, whichis also split into transport/distribution and logistics activities. The depot is equipped with anautomated parcel sorting system, and 36 docking door to serve a fleet of 22 vehicles. The on-siteteam consists of 41 staff.

Azkar said it can now offer customers a choice of 85 facilities across Spain and Portugal,with 640,000 sqm, supported by 5,000 experienced staff and a fleet of over 2,200 vehicles.
