Parcels carrier GLS is launching an express service in Austria to broaden its product portfolio inthe country.
GLS Austria said that its new Express-Parcel service provides nationwide delivery of urgentitems on a time-definite basis and with guaranteed reliability, backed up by additional extras.
”We are running the new express product completely integrated within our high qualitysystem,” said Klaus Schädle, European Area Manager Germany South, Austria & Portugal.
In contrast to the standard parcel with a domestic transit time of less than 24 hours, theExpress-Parcel guarantees delivery by 17:00 the following day, he explained.
Customers can also request delivery at a specific time or on a Saturday if necessary. Thetime-definite options, depending on delivery region, include 09:00, 10:00 and 12:00 delivery times.In addition, shipments can be tracked in real time.
GLS Austria said it had invested EUR 2 million in IT systems, including new scannertechnology, in order to be able to provide the express service. Shipment information for theexpress parcels will be monitored at special “cockpits” in depots, Schädle said.
