UPS reports double-digit growth in Asia

UPS has announced strong double-digit growth rates for key markets in Asia as it builds up itsservices and network in the region.



In the fourth quarter ending December 31, 2007, UPS reported more than 15% growth in the AsiaPacific region, driven by strong growth of more than 30% in China and nearly 25% in India. For fullyear 2007, Asia delivered growth of nearly 20%.

“We continued to improve service and coverage across the region and successfully leveragedthe intra-Asia network, where some of the world’s fastest-growing trade lanes are, to end thefiscal year with solid growth figures.” said Ken Torok, President of UPS Asia Pacific.

“Our 2007 roll-out of more customer-focused services, technology solutions and productenhancements had proven to be strong drivers for profit. We also reaped benefits from improvingsynergies between our supply chain and express businesses. All these changes will act as aspringboard for 2008, placing UPS in a strong position for continued growth in Asia,” Torok added.

Major developments for UPS in Asia last year included an alliance with AFL in India and anagreement for a new air hub in Shanghai due to open later this year.
