TNT Express has strengthened its product offering in Britain by integrating its main non-expressservices into a new business unit that is targeting strong growth over the next few years.
The new TNT Special Services unit brings together for the first time TNT’s time-critical,freight and special handling services portfolio with the over-arching aim of double-digit growthwithin the next five years, TNT Express UK announced.
The newly-appointed TNT Special Services Divisional General Manager Grant Cochrane said: “Whatwe’ve created is an all encompassing solution at TNT by integrating our domestic, international andbespoke services all under one roof. This is great news for the customer because it means ourcentralised customer service team can deal with all requirements rather than going from one part ofthe business to the other.”
“Our time-critical services take over where our previous Sameday product left off,” he added. “Sameday needed bringing together with the international side of the business to provide a globaloffering, but at the same time give a truly local service so we can compete more vigorously withthe local courier market. This move will help to achieve that. We will be able to offer a fullrange of services where the express sales force can help to market our instant responseproducts.”
The time-critical services cover domestic and international same-day delivery using dedicatedvehicles combined with a network of scheduled road, rail and air links. This service is a‘scheduled’ same day service when actual time of delivery is not quite so critical. They alsoinclude a Special Express service for out-of-hours collections and deliveries, a Diplomat servicefor secure deliveries of documents and items, and an Air Charter service for internationaltransportation of special cargo.
The Freight Services product grouping covers international air and sea freight forwarding forheavier shipments, and the Roadfreight service for consolidated freight transportation to Europeandestinations by truck.
The Special Handling services include the Storapart product, offering strategically-locatedwarehousing for time-critical spare/ replacement parts, a technical courier service, and specialprojects such as dangerous goods handling.
