time:matters buys Dutch express firm JNE

German same-day express and emergency logistics provider time:matters is continuing itsinternational expansion with the acquisition of Dutch express logistics provider JNE with effect

from 1 January 2008.

With the turn of the year, 100% of the shares of JNE Netherlands BV were transferred totime:matters Holding GmbH. As a result of the acquisition, the founder and former owner of JNE, BenHofs, was appointed managing director of the new Dutch time:matters subsidiary. He will besupported by the co-managing director, Dr Arne Schulke, the CEO of time:matters Holding. All theemployees of JNE have been taken over by the new company.

In addition, JNE customers can now access directly the time:matters network whichsignificantly expands the existing services and geographical focus of JNE, time:matters said in astatement.

“Both companies have a similar corporate strategy: they operate in a very businesslike wayand are very customer-oriented. Their service portfolios complement each other perfectly,” statedtime: matters CEO Franz-Joseph Miller. “JNE’s 15-year experience in the segment of sameday andemergency logistics, combined with the specific regional knowledge of the market, offers attractivesynergies for successful development of our business activities.”

With the acquisition of JNE, time:matters is adding a new component to its strategy ofinternationalization which was initiated the year before last. Whereas previously time:mattersfocused on organic growth by setting up its own sales offices and subsidiaries (first foreignsubsidiary in Zurich in 2006, further dependencies in Shanghai, Vienna and Warsaw in 2007), it hasnow taken over an established company for the first time.

Franz-Joseph Miller added: “The integration of the Benelux countries in the time:mattersnetwork is an important step within our internationalization. The region with numerous Europeandistribution centres, for example, provides great potential for time-critical spare parts logistics– a segment, which is becoming increasingly important for time:matters.”

JNE, based at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport, has been named import partner for Emirates SkyCargo for the Benelux region and also markets export capacity on Emirates flights.
