Express carrier Chronopost is expecting strong growth in parcel volumes this Christmas as itbenefits from the growth of e-commerce sales in France.
The La Poste subsidiary said it expects to deliver a total of 6.5 million parcels duringDecember, with weekly growth rates of 15% in the first week of December, 25% in the second, and 45%in the third.
To cope with the additional volumes, Chronoposts has set up 650 additional delivery rounds aday during the peak period and more than 100 additional linehaul connections. It will deliverparcels throughout Saturday, December 22 as well as on December 24.
The volume growth is driven in particular by the strong rise in e-commerce sales in Francewhere more than EUR 3 billion is expected to be spent on Christmas shopping this year, a 22% riseon 2006.
