DHL Express opens new facilities in Asia

DHL supports the Urawa Reds

DHL Express has continued to enhance its infrastructure in Asia Pacific with a number of newfacilities in recent weeks. It has also undertaken new marketing activities.



In India, its domestic express subsidiary Blue Dart Express opened a new facility in SahidNagar, Bhubaneshwar, in the east of the country. The facility will cater to various industrysectors like IT (software & hardware), steel, education, banking/insurance and tourism, thecompany said. Blue Dart is in the midst of a programme to open 57 new centres across India thisyear.

In Indonesia, DHL opened a new Quality Control Center (QCC) at Denpasar, Bali, equipped witha global shipment management system – the Quality Shipment Monitoring System (QSMS) – to increasethe visibility of shipment flows of all DHL shipments in the air and on the ground.

Meanwhile, DHL Exel Supply Chain business unit has begun operating a new purpose-built,state-of-the-art Synchronized Dispatched Facility for Unilever near Surabaya, East Java. InThailand, DHL Exel Supply Chain has received its first Bonded Warehouse License from the DirectorGeneral of the Customs Authority Department of Thailand. The new facility is located near itsprincipal client – Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

In Japan, DHL is supporting local soccer team Urawa Red Diamonds (Urawa Reds) in this month’sFIFA Club World Cup in Japan by putting supporting stickers on its 750 delivery vehicles andorganising various events. The team, with which DHL has a sponsorship agreement, won this year’sAsian Football Confederation Champions’ League (ACL).

In Malaysia, DHL Express offered a Beat the Rush end-of-year special promotion forinternational shipments with no peak season surcharge. Customer benefits included half-dayadvantage for inbound shipments, flexible pick-up times and daily uplifts.
