British parcels firm Amtrak has launched a credit/debit card payment option to make it easier forsmall companies and individuals to use their parcel services.
“We believe this will appeal not only to small businesses but also to people selling on theweb or sending goods occasionally,” said managing director Alan Jones. “Customers don’t necessarilywant to set up an account but want a quick and easy way to organise sending a parcel.”
The popularity of web auction sites and the growth in the number of people working at homehas led to a significant increase in the demand for collection and delivery of one or two parcelsfrom residential addresses. Customers can log onto the Amtrak website to book and pay for the NextDay service, selecting from a range of options if they need an early delivery.
“Our new service enables people to send parcels without leaving the house – and especiallywithout standing in a queue at the Post Office,” Jones added. “We also have special services forgoods of high value – either cash value or sentimental value – and we anticipate people will useAmtrak to send all kinds of items.”
Amtrak, with more than 60 locations nationwide, offers a Call and Collect service allowingthe recipient to collect the parcel at his/her own convenience.
