DHL has placed an order for 1,500 PACKSTATIONs with KEBA, the worldwide provider of packagelogistic solutions, to improve its service for private customers in Germany.
The delivery of the 1,500 KePol SB parcel machines was agreed recently at the Post-Expo inBarcelona. Better known under the brand “PACKSTATION”, the KEBA parcel machines will be installedthroughout Germany by the end of 2009 in addition to the 900 machines already installed and used by700,000 registered customers. It is the largest individual order in KEBA’s history.
Andrej Busch, head of marketing for DHL Parcels Germany, commented: “The positive reactionsto the PACKSTATION by our customers beat all our expectations. In the age of Web 2.0, flexibilityand free choice with regards to time, location and logistic channel are in demand. Thanks to thePACKSTATIONs, we believe that picking up a package will become as matter of fact as making a tripto the ATM.”
Gerhard Luftensteiner, KEBA president, said: “SB parcel machines are the future of packagedelivery. KePol SB parcel machines are the package logistic solution with the world’s largestinstallation base.” Thanks to the parcel machines, deliveries could be made round the clock andcustomers such as single householders could collect them at their convenience, he pointed out.
The Linz-based automation specialist has also sold parcel machines to Austrian Post andoperates test locations and pilot programs in various European countries.
