TNT Express records double-digit growth in Russia

TNT Express Russia has recorded annual growth rates of 30%-40% in volumes in the last few years andexpects further strong growth in the country, Harro van Graafeiland, managing director of TNT

Russia, said in a recent interview.

The Russian express delivery market market is growing rapidly, especially in the B2B sector,and customer demand for quality services is increasing, he told the newspaper “Russian EconomicNews”. He was speaking prior to the recent announcement of planned cooperation between TNT andRussian Post.

TNT Express Russia announced in April 2007 that it transported 1.5 million shipments in 2006,with domestic volumes up 40% and international volumes up 20%, and that it had expanded itsregional network in the country.

Van Graafeiland told the newspaper that TNT was now offering its new time-definiteinternational services “10:00 Express” and”12:00 Economy Express” to Russian customers, and thisstrengthened the company in the Russian market. “We are currently offering our customers moreservices in morning delivery than our competitors. Our customers can choose between differentdelivery times in the morning and have more growth opportunities for their businesses,” he said.

In particular, Economy Express was a unique service in Russia, he added. The new services hadbeen developed in response to researched customer demand, and were being marketed through a globaladvertising campaign, van Graafeiland told the Russian newspaper.
