Swiss Post and unions agree on 2008 wage deal

Swiss Post and the trade unions Kommunikation and transfair have agreed on a 2.2% pay rise andvarious additional payments for most of the company’s postal staff for 2008. 



Under an agreement covering about 41,000 postal employees, staff will receive a general payrise of 2.2% next year and a one-off payment of CHF 500 (EUR 305). On top of that, most employeeswill receive a 1% additional, performance-based individual increase.

Separate negotiations for employees of PostAuto AG, PostLogistics AG and SecurePost AG willstart soon, Swiss Post said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the German trade union Ver.di is planning to start its 2008 pay negotiations withDeutsche Post by asking for a salary increase of 5.5% to 6%, reported the international news agencyReuters.
