Aramex has been chosen by Terraplana, a London-based creator of fashion products from recycledmaterials, as its global logistics supplier. Aramex won the business following a three-way

competitive pitch and is now responsible for all aspects of the Terraplana group’s import andexport business worldwide.

London-based Terraplana, has an international reputation for its products which include theWorn Again range of funky, unisex footwear created from 99% recycled material such as oldparachutes, prison blankets, t-shirts, army jackets, coffee bags and shoes, Aramex said in astatement.

Making shoes is one of the most toxic, polluting, resource intensive industries in the worldbut sustainability and innovation are not necessarily words associated with the industry. Terraplana is already working with Aramex on systems which will minimize waste and re-use packagingand at the same time close product lifecycle loops.

“The diverse nature of Terraplana’s products means we are providing a wide range ofvalue-added logistics including pick and pack, storage and e-commerce distributon on a globalbasis,” says Aramex’ UK Managing Director Air & Ocean, Jim Armour.  “With shops in Londonand New York and manufacturing and distribution across Asia it requires considerable co-ordinationto ensure the customer’s exacting standards and reputation are upheld”.

“We think Aramex have a great understanding of our business from their wide experience of theindustry, but more than that, we feel they understand the issues that matter to us and will workwith us to make shoe logistics more eco-friendly”, said Terraplana’s Managing Director, GalahadClark.
