TNT Express and truck manufacturer Iveco have presented a new environmentally-friendly,hybrid-power commercial vehicle to promote non-polluting diesel-hybrid technology.
The new truck “Iveco Eurocargo Hybrid”, painted in the traditional TNT colours of orange andwhite, was on show at a road transport show in Amsterdam last week, TNT Italy said in astatement. The vehicle will be deployed in its first road tests from September 2008 onwards.
The vehicle records optimal values in the category of lorries up to 12 tons total weight interms of energy efficiency, reduced CO2 emissions and the 30% lower operating costs compared toconventional diesel-lorries, TNT Express pointed out.
The cooperation between TNT Italy and Iveco is another component in the broadly basedenvironmental commitment of TNT aimed at reducing the impact of business activities on theenvironment, and is part of the “Planet Me” programme for systematic reduction of CO2 emissions.
