FedEx cuts domestic express rates in China

FedEx has cut its domestic express rates in China by roughly half with effect from October 15,2007, according to the Sinocast information service.



The new rate for a next-morning express delivery from Beijing to Shanghai has been reduced toCNY 60 from the previous price of CNY 135 (EUR 12.53), it said. Rates to other destinations such asGuangzhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan have also been reduced.

No source was given for the information, and no explanation for the price cuts was provided.

Sinocast wrote that with the lower rate, FedEx poses a threat to China Post since thestarting price for the latter’s next-morning service in the Yangtze Delta region is also CNY 60(EUR 5.57).
