The Geodis group has opened a new depot in Amiens in northern France to handle parcel and expressactivities in the region.
The joint Geodis Calberson and France Express site in the Amiens Northern Industrial Areacovers 44,000 sqm, has 85 truck docking positions, and 5300 sqm of working space. Some 140employees work there.
The facility brings together all the parcel and express operations of Geodis CalbersonPicardie and France Express in the area around Amiens. It is directly connected to the group’sdomestic and international networks.
Its ultra-modern parcel management system, equipped with wireless real time transmission,will enable Geodis to handle more than 600,000 shipments a year in the most efficient way in termsof quality, security and reliability.
Geodis said that the creation of this new site is part of its strategy to modernize itsproduction tools on a regular basis to improve customer satisfaction and support the businessdevelopment of companies in the Picardy region.
