TNT has been ranked first in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) 2007 beating internationalcompanies from across all sectors. The index tracks the financial performance of “
sustainability-driven” companies.TNT announced that its score improved from 84 in 2006 to 91 this year, reaching both theleading position in the super sector “Industrial Goods and Services” (which includesTransportation) and the highest score of any company in the DJSI.
SAM research, one of the co-founders of the index, commented that TNT ‘has consistentlyimproved not only its sustainability reporting but also its sustainability performance’. Thecompany achieved particularly good results in the areas of risk and crisis management, humancapital development, stakeholder engagement and environmental management. Concrete initiatives likePlanet Me, TNT’s program to cut CO2 emissions, further underpin the group’s leadership role.
