A number of important job appointments have been announced by express, parcels and postal companiesduring July and August.
Singapore Post announced that CEO Lau Boon Tau resigned effective 31 August 2007 in order topursue other opportunities outside the company. Mr Lau had been SingPost’s Group CEO since February2005, and oversaw the company’s expansion of products and services, and improvement of operatingefficiencies, SingPost said in a statement. Dennis Quek, Chief Operating Officer, Logistics &eBusiness, is acting CEO until a new CEO is appointed.
UPS announced various appointments:
* Rich Peretz, previously vice president of international finance, has been named vicepresident of finance, with responsibility for treasury, procurement, risk management, investmentsand mergers and acquisitions.
* Teresa Finley, formerly UPS’s vice president of investor relations, is the new chieffinancial officer for international operations.
* Andy Dolny, chief financial officer of UPS Supply Chain Solutions, becomes the new vicepresident of investor relations.
* Jack Holmes, SVP Operations at UPS Freight, has replaced Gordon Mackenzie as head of UPSFreight. Mackenzie, who has retired, was head of Overnite and remained with the company during itsintegration into UPS Freight.
France’s La Poste named Jacques Rapoport as the new director general in place of PhilippeLazare, who left the company in July. Rapoport, currently head of the Keolis public transportcompany in Lyon, takes responsibility for the postal network from October.
German-based courier, sameday and emergency logistics specialist time:matters named JörgAsbrand to the newly-created position of Chief Operations and Customer Service Officer effectiveAugust 1. Previously Director of Product Sales & Customer Service at Lufthansa Technik AG, hehas responsibility for all of the operational units worldwide as well as customer service, productdevelopment and international network expansion.
German express company GO! appointed Philip Schreiber as head of international business witheffect from September 1. Previously in logistics management positions with various companies, hewill be responsible for continuing the company’s international growth.
