Swiss Post today announced half-year profits up 16.5% to CHF 507 million (EUR 310 million) comparedto the same period last year. Revenues rose 13% to CHF 4.3 billion (EUR 2.63 billion) from CHF 3.8
billion (EUR 2.32 billion) in 2006.“The good performance is due to the sale of property no longer necessary to operations aswell as operational success. All the divisions of the group contributed to the consolidatedprofits,” a statement from the group said.
Mail operations (PostMail) fell 1.2% on the same period in 2006 in addressed letters, alongwith the European trend, while publicity and newspaper delivery rose 2.3% and 1.5% respectively.
The group had to pay CHF 54 million (EUR 33 million) in exceptional charges for modernisationof its mail sorting operations.
Swiss Post said the positive half-year results meant it now expected better results for 2007than 2006, when the group delivered a full-year CHF 837 million (EUR 512 million) profit.
