FedEx links Manchester with Memphis

FedEx Express has launched a dedicated direct flight between Memphis in the USA and Manchester inthe UK which will increase capacity between the countries by up to 50%.



A wide-body MD-11 freighter will fly out of the FedEx European hub in Paris daily from Mondayto Thursday and will also up capacity between the USA and Europe by as much as 20%.

“Manchester is the fastest-growing region in the UK, which has led to increased market demandfor reliable, time-definite express transportation services,“ said Robert Elliott, president forthe FedEx Express Europe, Middle East, Indian subcontinent and Africa region.

The new flight will be the third to serve the transatlantic route from the UK. FedEx alreadyflies two express freighters from Stansted in the south-east of England to the cities of Newark andMemphis in the USA.

The objective is to extend next-day US delivery coverage within the Manchester region andallow later pick-up times for packages destined for the US, enabling FedEx to provide UK customerswith greater flexibility and convenience while significantly increasing our daily capacity to theUS, Elliott added.
