DHL has opened its 74th branch in China, at Taizhou in the Chinese Yangtze River Delta, to meet theincreasing demand for international express services in the region.
The outlet, opened as part of its Sinotrans joint venture, is part of the company’s First InChina expansion strategy launched one year ago.
Meanwhile, the Deutsche Post subsidiary has embarked upon further initiatives in Asia,announcing a new sponsorship of the Taiwanese baseball team, Taipei Avocational, which is competingin Europe this summer.
DHL has been the exclusive logistics sponsor of the Chinese Taipei Baseball Team since the2004 Olympics and will deliver several hundred kilos of baseball equipment and medical supplies forthe games in Holland and Italy.
The carrier also announced that all its express facilities in Thailand have obtainedTransported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) ‘Class A’ certification.
The facilities in Thailand recently certified include the DHL Express Bangkok hub atSuvarnabhumi International Airport, and all seven service centres nationwide.
