DHL has honoured Ms Areena Ng with Singapore’s first DHL Young Entrepreneurs for Sustainability(YES) Award, a newly-created initiative to promote young social entrepreneurs to share their best
practices and resources within the Asia Pacific region.She was selected by a jury based on her accomplishments for setting up and successfullyrunning Bridge Learning, a one-stop centre for learning, behavioural, social-communication andemotional needs for children in education with learning disabilities and difficulties whoseabilities are in-between mainstream schools and special schools. As the national winner, Areena Ngwill represent Singapore in the DHL YES Awards Regional Ceremony to be held in the state on 30August 2007.
Alec Ang, General Manager, DHL Express Singapore, said: “Social entrepreneurship is still arelatively new concept in Singapore. This is why it is important for organisations that have theresources and capabilities to lend their support to help foster an environment that is conducive toencouraging social entrepreneurship. We hope the DHL YES Awards will provide the impetus needed tofurther cultivate the spirit of social entrepreneurship in Singapore.”
