TNT has announced investment in its recently-acquired Chinesesubsidiary Hoau with 260 new trucks, upgraded IT systems and a new ”TNT Hoau” brand identity.
The Dutch group, which completed the acquisition of the road trucking company this spring,has ordered the new trucks from Chinese vehicle manufacturer Dongfeng which has supplied some 1,500trucks to Hoau in the past, Chinese media reported.
In parallel, the Chinese company is gaining a new visual identity with its vehiclesrepainted orange and gaining a new ”TNT Hoau” branding. The new look will gradually be spreadacross the company’s fleet of 3,000 vehicles and 1,250 branches over the next few months.
Other investment will be made in new freight handling equipment, and upgraded IT and financesystems. SinoCast China quoted Hoau Logistics chief Pang Fuxing as saying that 50 million yuanwould be spent on IT systems and staff training.
Chinese media quoted Michael Drake, managing director TNT Greater China, as saying that thecompany would focus more on road-based express transportation in China in the future than ontraditional air express services. Hoau operates the largest LTL road trucking network in thePeople’s Republic.
