DHL generated strong growth in Romania in the first six months of 2007 and expects to maintain a10% operating profit margin in the country this year, according to a local news report.
The Ziarul Financiar newspaper reported that DHL had increased half-year revenues by 30%thanks to a doubling of domestic delivery volumes, new products and improved infrastructure. Noexact revenue figure was published. A similar 30% revenue growth rate is expected for the fullyear.
Bogdan Obretin, DHL International Romania commercial manager, was quoted as saying: “Weestimate that this year’s profit margin will be maintained at the same level as in 2006, around10%.” In 2006, DHL Romania reportedly increased revenues by 26% to EUR 30 million.
According to its own estimates, DHL accounts for 40% of the Romanian international expressdelivery market. Domestic services account for about 10% of turnover, Obretin said.
In 2007, DHL Romania will invest about EUR 3 million in the expansion of its distributionnetwork by acquiring 120 new vehicles and increasing its workforce by 10 %. DHL currently operatesa fleet of over 230 vehicles in Romania, and has a network of sorting and service centres in morethan 23 cities.
