Austrian Post said it has completed the acquisition of German direct marketing provider Meillerdirect, one of the biggest direct marketing providers in Europe. The price was not disclosed but
was calculated as the company’s enterprise value (EUR 60.5 million) minus net financialliabilities.Meiller produced 685 million mailings, 175 million of them international, last year andgenerated turnover of EUR 112 million. The company operates in several countries in Western andCentral Europe and has production sites in Schwandorf (Germany) and Nyrany (Czech Republic).
Apart from document and mailing production, its services include dialogue services (CRM,address management, data mining, response management) as well as processing and finishing ofdialogue media. Austrian Post said its subsidiaries in countries such as Slovakia, Czech Republic,Hungary and Croatia would benefit in particular from Meiller’s services.
“Meiller direct fits superbly into our strategic plans. We are aiming to expand on a regionalbasis as well as along the value added chain of our customers. The acquisition of meiller is amajor and important step in our expansion drive,” commented Austrian Post chairman Anton Wais.
“As a result of this acquisition, we are in a position to significantly expand our portfolioof services. Customers in the mail order business now have access to comprehensive services,ranging from the conception and production of their advertising mail to their delivery,” addedWalter Hitziger, Austrian Post’s board member responsible for mail, parcels and logistics.
