TNT to invest EUR 7m in Vietnam

TNT will invest more than EUR 7 million over the next four years in its domestic express servicesin Vietnam, several Asia newspapers reported.



The express company has invested in additional vehicles and new staff, as well as the openingof five new branches in Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, An Giang, and Ca Mau provinces, increasing the totalnumber of TNT’s location in Vietnam to 23. About 35-40 new employees will be taken on this year.

The move to roll out domestic express services in Vietnam results from increasing demand fromcustomers for efficient and reliable transportation of goods in the rapidly growing economy inVietnam and makes TNT the first international express service provider in the country to introduceand offer premium express services, the company said.

“Fast-tracking our growth in Vietnam supports our growth strategy to focus on enhancing theefficient flow of goods and information across borders, facilitating our companies’ access to otherinternational markets, in particular China,” said Onno Boots, regional managing director for TNTAsia.

He said the domestic service also supports the recent expansion of TNT’s Asia Road Networkinto Vietnam which will prepare the company for accelerated high double-digit growth as part of itsstrategic agenda for the next three to five years.
