DHL has launched a new Airport to Door Express service in the Asia Pacificregion targeting the heavy freight transportation sector which is estimated to account for 50% of
total cross-border airfreight traffic in the region.With Airport to Door Express, customers benefit from one point of contact, onefixed price and one invoice for all their import requirements. There are no weight or sizerestrictions for the shipments which will have intra-Asia transit times of 1-2 days, the companysaid.
The service, which according to DHL has traditionally only been offered byfreight forwarders until now, is available in 13 countries covering over 50 key receiving centres.These are Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand,Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand. Other markets will be added at later dates.
“DHL aims to reach out to businesses that have the need to use traditionalfreight forwarding services, but who seek to reduce the complexities and inconveniences ofinternational shipping processes,” said Dan McHugh, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Senior VicePresident – Commercial, DHL Express Asia Pacific. “Airport to Door Express is specially created forthem as it combines DHL’s well known ease-of-use with the efficiencies needed for theirrequirements to manage international shipments.”
