FedEx takes delivery of last A300

The faithful A300

Airbus has delivered its last A300 to FedEx, as it moves on to a new freighter aircraft, theA330-200F, during this year.



The last A300 to leave assembly line was delivered to FedEx on Thursday last week, bringingthe total manufactured by Airbus to 630.

Now Airbus plans to produce more than 1600 A330 mid-size freighters over the next 20 yearswith orders from seven customers already in the bag.

“Time has proven to us that the A300s and A310s were excellent choices for our fleet,” saidJim Parker, senior vice-president of air operations at FedEx Express.

“They have given us a great return on investment and proven to be reliable, all of whichincreases our ability to serve our customers.

“We look forward to continuing our longstanding and important relationship with Airbus, andwill continue to evaluate new developments in the Airbus product range as they become available.”

The Airbus A300, launched in May 1969 and entering service with Air France in May 1974, wasthe very first wide-body, twin-engine aircraft ever brought to the market and set new standards inthe industry.
