Business Post announced that revenues increased by 13 % in the first quarter of the UK 2007-2008fiscal year, without giving absolute figures.
The group was completing its first ‘interim management statement’ in line with the country’snew disclosure and transparency rules.
“Overall our business has made a satisfactory start to the year,” Business Post said in astatement to the Stock Exchange. “Our parcels business is making progress in an increasinglycompetitive market. As planned we have transferred one further franchise to corporate ownershipsince our preliminary results announcement in May, leaving 15 remaining franchise operations.”
Its postal business, UK Mail, continued to achieve strong growth, Business Post said, and hadjust won a new contract with the Prudential insurance company. UK Mail now provides over 400organisations with downstream access services. The company had been able to reorganise itsoperations to avoid being affected by the strike at Royal Mail, it said.
Business Post revenues grew 17% in the fiscal year (2006-2007) up to the end of March, risingto GBP 326 million (EUR 480 million) from GBP 278 million (EUR 409 million) in 2005-2006. Profitmore than doubled to GBP 9.8 million (EUR 14.4 million) from GBP 4.7 million from the year before.
