DHL Express has opened new facilities at several locations across Europe during June to strengthenits network and improve its operations and customer services.
In Italy, DHL Express opened a new EUR 10 million sorting centre at Bentivoglio, in theprovince of Bologna, on June 26. The depot, with capacity for up to 5,000 parcels an hour, willhandle domestic and international shipments.
In the Netherlands, DHL Express has opened a depot at Drachten in the north of the countrythat replaces two smaller centres in the region. The facility, on a 40,294 sqm plot of land, hascapacity to handle 6,400 parcels an hour.
In Belgium, it started work the previous month on extending the combined Express/Freightterminal at Opglabbeek in the province of Limburg from the present 4,500 sqm to 7,800 sqm byend-2008.
In Central and Eastern Europe, DHL Express opened a distribution centre in Plzen, westernCzech Republic, on June 22, the Prague Daily Monitor newspaper reported. Czech country manager JiriStojar said that DHL Express planned a network of 10 distribution terminals in the next threeyears.
