The investments in the international gateways and US-Mexico flights are part of DHL’s NorthAmerica Trade Lane initiative, which was launched in November last year to increase the speed andefficiency of cross-border shipments across North America.

“Northwest Mexico is a growing market with significant trade with the US in key industries, including automotive and electronics,” said Lindsay Birley, DHL vice-president for internationalproducts and services.

“The new Hermosillo gateway allows us to expand our service options and make cross-bordershipping easier for customers by effectively reducing international transit times and providinglater shipment cut-off times.”

The new service – which sees northbound shipments routed to DHL’s main hub at Wilmington,Ohio – enables next day delivery for all shipments up to 150 pounds (70 kilos) from Hermosillo tothe entire US network.

It also provides for second day delivery to and from Guaymas, Ciudad Obregon, Navojoa,Empalme and other surrounding communities, as well as later shipment cut-off times forinternational deliveries from the region.
