TNT has announced it is planning to expand further in Malaysia, following its investment of overMYR 15 million (EUR 3.2 million) in new facilities and services in the country last year, part of
what is says is “an aggressive growth strategy”.“Malaysia’s economy is growing rapidly, but we see significant opportunities in NorthMalaysia,” said Gerry Power, TNT managing director for Malaysia and Brunei.
“Malaysia’s Northern Economic Corridor – Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern Perak – houses amajor concentration of electrical and electronic manufacturing companies. TNT has specialist corecapabilities for businesses in these industries,” Power added.
The company has just appointed a new general manager for northern Malaysia, Christopher Bain,who will be based in the Penang office.
Established in 1976, TNT Malaysia has three international gateways and 10 branches. Itsmodern warehouse at Kuala Lumpur International Airport handles around 80% TNT’s in-and-out boundinternational business.
TNT’s Malaysian facilities have also attained ISO 9001 certification for quality management,TAPA certification for handling high-value goods and OHSAS 18001 for workplace safety.
