Pitney Bowes in talks to buy Belgian Post French unit

Pitney Bowes is set to buy Asterion, a Belgian Post subsidiary in France, as part of itsinternational expansion strategy. It recently bought Spring Global Mail USA from TNT.



Belgian Post announced that the two companies plan exclusive negotiations over the sale ofAsterion to Pitney Bowes and aim to reach agreement within the foreseeable future.

Asterion, created in 2000/01, was described as the French market leader in documentationmanagement for business customers with a range of services. With about 700 employees and severalbranch offices, it has annual sales of about EUR 78 million, according to its website.

The US company is already present in France through several subsidiaries whose combinedrevenues approach the EUR 200 million level, according to information on its French website. Theacquisition would intensify competition with leading rival NeoPost in the latter’s home market.
