DHL USA has opened a new $2.7 million facility near Louisville International Airport in Kentucky toconsolidate all local operations for customers shipping to and from the region.
The new, 64,000-sq.-ft. service centre combines a facility east of Louisville and DHL’sprevious operations near the airport in one strategically located service centre that is now hometo the local pickup, delivery and sorting operations, and will have 125 employees.
The service centre will handle a wide variety of shipments – including domestic andinternational parcels as well as palletized, loose-load and container freight. The pickup anddelivery footprint for the new facility includes cities in and around the Louisville, Ky. metroarea, east to Indiana including Austin, and as far South as cities along the Tennessee border.
“Customers shipping to and from the Louisville region will benefit from earlier deliveries,and extending our pickup cutoff times will make it even more convenient for shippers using DHL inthe area,” said John Cameron, DHL USA executive vice president of Operations.
