Parcelnet, the UK home delivery specialist owned by Germany’s Otto Group, has announced it isbuying the Redcats courier network.
The acquisition, financial details of which were not disclosed, will see Parcelnet take onresponsibility for serving Redcats’ clients La Redoute, Empire Stores, Vertbaudet and Daxon, andwill increase its network to over 7,000 couriers, serving 40 top retailers, while allowing RedcatsUK to concentrate on its own home shopping activities.
“For Redcats UK brands, it will improve speed of delivery, courier service and coverage, andgive customers access to premium services,” said Carole Woodhead, Parcelnet managing director. “Parcelnet is very pleased with this acquisition as it will bring many positives. Having increasedthe network and service capability over recent years, this acquisition is an important component ofour service development plan and we can react positively to the changing needs of customers in thegrowing home shopping market.”
Integrating the two operations will give access to greater courier density, Parcelnet said,enabling it to introduce more delivery options for customers. As part of the Otto Group, Parcelnetis also the UK carrier for Hermes’ European parcel network.
