DHL has quickened delivery from Europe to the USA and boosted its air network to connect keyEuropean population centres with the major US metropolitan areas.
The Deutsche Post subsidiary is now operating earlier flight departures from Europe to itsmain hub at Wilmington, Ohio, and has improved connections between continental Europe and its UKhub at East Midlands to offer next-day delivery to US cities.
As part of an important European network upgrade, Lufthansa Cargo, DHL’s intercontinentalpartner, is providing a direct connection from Cologne to Wilmington via East Midlands.
DHL said improvements on both sides of the Atlantic meant that it could now make one-daydeliveries from 21 cities in six European countries – Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, theNetherlands and the UK – to all major metropolitan areas in the US. Previously next-day deliverybetween Europe and the USA was only possible to New York.
Upgraded services include Worldwide Priority Express, International Document Service and DHLImport Express.
“This network enhancement will ensure customers are provided with the most competitiveexpress service offering to and from the largest markets in Europe,” said Lindsay Birley, executivevice-president, DHL International Services.
“DHL is able to leverage these air network enhancements with our strengthened USinfrastructure to help customers operate more competitively within the US-European trade lane,” headded.
