DHL simplifies trade with new information service

DHL has extended its Global Trade Services (GTS) platform with the introduction of a new customerinformation service called Trade Advisory Services (TAS).



The GTS platform, launched in late 2006, is designed to help shippers manage and simplifyinternational trading. The platform already covered Importer and Exporter of Record Services,Customs Brokerage Services, and Trade Automation Services.

Trade Advisory Services, launched in partnership with US-based company Sandler & TravisTrade Advisory Services (STTAS) comprises four distinctive features covering Supply Chain Security,Trade Opportunity, Customs and Trade Capacity Building, and Goods Classification, DHL Asia Pacificsaid in a statement.

The supply chain security services include customer information and assistance relating tothe US-based C-TPAT initiative and the World Customs Organization’s Authorized Economic Operatorscheme.

Trade Opportunity Services include providing assistance, advisory and management activitiesfor duty preference and origin programs such as duty reduction and duty deferral schemes.

Trade and Customs Capacity Building services help customers modernize existing customs orimport/export systems and procedures, as well as offer customs training program to businesses toequip their staff with relevant technical knowledge to handle customs compliance issues and tradecomplexities.

The Goods Classification Services provide expert advice and assistance in areas such asclassification codes, analyses and gaining classification rulings.
